AERKOMM Inc. is expanding operations in Taiwan and has opened discussions on a potential merger between its subsidiary AERKOMM Taiwan Inc. and EJECTT Inc. (3089.TWO) — a strategic move to capitalize on the growing satellite business sector and strengthen AERKOMM’s global position.

Regulatory context

On July 7, 2023, AERKOMM Taiwan Inc. — the only Taiwanese service provider authorized for Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) satellite communication services — received frequency allocation approval from Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Affairs. That approval is the underlying licence that makes an operational merger meaningful.

Fit

The proposed merger would combine AERKOMM’s technological capabilities with EJECTT’s business-expansion expertise in Taiwan’s satellite market. AERKOMM plans to provide MEO satellite services via its partnership with SES and the O3b mPOWER system. Target markets include government agencies, maritime operations, aviation, and underserved connectivity regions.

Merger discussions are aimed at creating synergies that accelerate Taiwan’s satellite business build-out. A formal LOI was signed a few weeks later on July 28.
